There is a month full of campaigns for lupus awareness~ I’ll try to make note of as many as I can.

What I would really like to do is encourage you to wear purple today and show not only your support in bringing awareness of this disease to others, but to give yourself acknowledgement that you work through your challenges with lupus every day…and that means something.

Some days are better than others and it would be wonderful to not have to face them like we do. However, by taking a minute to realize just how much you handle and succeed in, despite these challenges, is well worth a day of color.

Today, that color is purple~ find even the smallest bit of it and wear it proudly.

Oregon Support & Meet-up Group Announcements

If you lead or attend support groups for your health here in Oregon, please contact me so that I can list them here!

Portland/Beaverton area Fibro/CFS/ME group~ February 16th from 1-4:00 PM is their next meeting. For the first part of the meeting, there will be social time, then the speakers panel will present on Caregiver Appreciation until 4pm. The meetings will be held at the Frida Center in SW Portland through March.

The social gatherings at Gustav's are back and the next one scheduled for Thursday, January 31st from 1-3. Gustav's is located at 10350 SW Greenburg Road, in Tigard.

Bend's Central Oregon Scleroderma Support Group meetings have been postponed until March 2013 to accommodate the members. Next spring, they will resume meeting on the 2nd floor of the Bend Memorial Clinic's Physician's Lounge.1501 N.E. Medical Center Dr.

The next Portland area Scleroderma support group meeting is scheduled for January 12th. Presenting will be Tony Wolff, PT, an orthopedic physical therapist at Legacy Outpatient Rehabilitation. He will be presenting information about Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy/The McKenzie Method, which he uses to guide treatment of both spine and upper/lower extremity conditions. Meetings are held from 10am-Noon, at Good Samaritan Hospital's Wistar Room.
